Right to Light Surveys

Right to Light Surveys

New Development
There is now increasing awareness of the potential impact that a proposed development may have on the surrounding environment.

One issue is potential flood risks, another is the affect that the development may have on neighbouring properties with regards to obstruction of light.

A topographical survey of the area, together with the survey of ridge & eaves heights and window positions etc., of neighbouring properties, will greatly assist the site designers in avoiding potential problems in this area.

Building Brick WallThis problem can also arise with new house extensions, and garden walls etc., that may impose on neighbouring properties. In these instances, a small localised survey may be required, to confirm the situation. We refer to these as Right to Light Surveys.

Typically, we are provided with a brief / specification of requirements, by an architect. Please note that we do not carry out light intensity surveys; our involvement typically would be to survey current site features to give existing site spatial information to assist others with assessment & design.

Our surveyors are equipped with the latest "non-contact" survey instruments that enable features to be surveyed remotely; this is extremely useful when survey information is required in areas where direct access is not possible.

If you require further information regarding Right to Light Surveys please contact us.
